Kuemper Catholic defeated Greene County 28-0 in Class 2A District 8 high school football on Friday night at Carroll Athletic Field. The fifth ranked Knights won their Homecoming game and are 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the district while the Rams fall to 2-3, 1-1. The game was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
The Rams had a high punt snap that led to a short field, and Kuemper’s first touchdown. A second TD in the opening quarter created a 14-0 deficit after one quarter. It stayed that way until 21 seconds remained in the first half as the Knights went 80 yards in 13 plays. Junior quarterback Brock Badding scored on a quarterback sneak from one yard out and he also threw two TD passes, one to Carson Kanne and one to Ryan Sundrup. Sophomore running back Jarin Hoffman had a four yard TD run and he finished with a game best 131 yards on 25 carries.
The Rams totaled just 105 yards of total offense. The Rams never got inside the Knights’ 20 yard line and the best scoring opportunity for the Rams came up empty when Crew COnner was picked off in the end zone.Conner was 7-14-1 through the air for 75 yards. Sophomore Trevon Keely was the top Greene County receiver with 43 yards on four catches. Senior Nicholas Stream led the Rams on the ground with 48 yards on 13 carries. Greene County mustered just 32 rusing yards on 26 carries.
Kuemper Catholic had 207 yards on the ground and 144 through the air for 351 total yards.
