A healthcare-related business in Jefferson is offering a free opportunity for people who think they are having balancing issues to know for sure.

21st Century Rehabilitation with Greene County Medical Center is having a Free Fall Risk Assessment Workshop on Wednesday, October 9th from 7-9am at the Greene County Community Center. Director of 21st Century Rehab in Jefferson Deb Morton says as people age, they naturally become less active and balance can be affected. She points out there could be other reasons as well, including an issue with muscles and joints, side-effects of medications, among others.

Morton notes that the Free Fall Risk Assessment is a come-and-go event at the rec center that also includes an individual having their blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen levels taken, grip strength tests, along with other tests. She adds that the goal of the assessment is to develop a program that can improve balance, as well as giving a person the confidence to continue to live independently. If individuals cannot make it to the assessment workshop, they can also contact 21st Century Rehab for an appointment by calling 515-386-4284.
