There is a group opportunity for high school students in Adair County.

Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that the Youth Council is made up of 9th through 12th grade students in the county, and that they get together and plan different events. She explains that last year the Youth Council held a school supply drive, and for the Adair County Fair, they hosted events like the teen dance, a volleyball tournament, and a new fundraiser this year.

Savage mentions that the new fundraiser was a pie in the face competition, and the winners got pied in the face at the Grandstand during the Fair. She adds she thought it was a lot of fun, even though she and some of the other Extension staff were the ones that got a face full of pie. Savage explains that the first meeting for the group has already happened, but that others can still participate. To find out when the next meeting is and how to join, contact Savage at the Adair County Extension Office by calling 641-743-8412.
