A structure was a total loss from an early Friday morning fire in Paton.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Paton and Grand Junction Fire Departments, and a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the vacant building fire in the 200 block of Main Street in Paton at 5:33am. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says when crews arrived on scene, the building was fully engulfed in flames but no one was home at the time of the fire. 

Williams notes that fire crews were on scene for about two hours and the building was deemed a total loss. He adds that no one was hurt, and no cause or origin of the fire was determined. Williams says there is no active investigation into the incident.
