Perry’s Homecoming King and Queen were recently announced as they outline their hopes that the magical occasion will mean to them.
Seniors Geren Kenney and Quin Mahler-Moreno heard their names called during Perry’s coronation on Wednesday. Kenney recalls that his initial reaction was pure excitement as the crowd was cheering, and for Quin, she was in total shock. As Homecoming King, Kenney wants people to view him as a reliable individual.
“I hope it’ll like portray me as like a leader. If people need something, come up to me, ask, and stuff. Just be a leader around the school.”
Kenney details that he has had family members be apart of the Homecoming Court in the past, but he is the first to be named King. Mahler-Moreno says that winning Queen is a reminder about the importance of being nice to her peers and loves the closeness she feels from the community.
“Perry (is) so tight-knit and I have so many people that I can rely on in this community. In the parade, I had a whole bunch of little kids waving at me and smiling at me, which just goes to show how tight the community is.”
Kenny and Mahler-Moreno will both be recognized prior to tonight’s football game as Perry hosts Storm Lake at 7pm.
