An award-winning music video, from a local company in Jefferson, was recently released to the public.

Art of Aries Studios produced “Infinite Battleground” with the local band Through the Darkness on September 6th. Art of Aries Co-Owner, producer and drummer with Through the Darkness Tyler Gathercoal says the song, “Infinite Battleground” is about the internal struggle that people have of either going to work or doing a passion or a hobby and the enjoyment that can bring. He points out that all of the locations within the music video were in Greene County. Those places include the upper story of the Sierra Community Theatre, Gravitate Coworking, 30 Yard Line and Squirrel Hollow Park.

Gathercoal says the “Infinite Battleground” music video won the Award of Achievement in Direction and the Award of Excellent in Editing from the Iowa Motion Picture Awards. He describes his favorite part of producing the music video, alongside their cinematopher, Tollef Sorensen.

“So the way the band shots turned out is probably my favorite part. In the editing room it was pretty easy to put together. When it came down to like one special shot, where I’m not going to explain it all, but we had to do a split screen tactic there and it turned out phenomenal. And the way that Tollef knows how to manipulate camera angles, coloring and all that, he can really make anything look good. That music video, like we got the Award of Excellence in Editing, because it looks so good.”

The rest of the Art of Aries team includes the director and Tyler’s brother Kristopher, Brett Bojack as the chief engineer, and Derek Austin and Chaz Wessels are studio musicians, along with the band members of Through the Darkness.

Gathercoal mentions that the music video was also nominated for the Iowa Independent Film Festival. He adds that while they may not have won an award from that festival, being nominated is an accomplishment. He says the Iowa Independent Film Festival was a wonderful event to attend and provided awesome networking opportunities to meet other upcoming actors, writers, producers and directors, including an artist and animator with Walt Disney Animations. Gathercoal states that Art of Aries has won previous awards and to be nominated with five different music videos with other industry professionals is something not a lot of people in Iowa can say.
