Several Guthrie Center businesses have teamed up for the inaugural year of a scholarship for Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center seniors.

New Homestead Marketing Director Brandi Clark says that part of her job is growing the organization’s relationship with the community. She mentions that with many AC/GC students working at the nursing home for nursing classes, she decided she wanted to start a scholarship program that would benefit those planning to go to college to study in the healthcare field. This will be the first year that the scholarship is offered, and New Homestead, Hospice of the Midwest, Synergy Health and Wellness and Dub P Apparel have come together to sponsor it.

The group will be doing a raffle at the Homecoming game tomorrow to raise funds for the scholarship. Clark explains that tickets will be sold from the start of the Booster Club’s tailgate party at 4pm, until the end of the third quarter of the game, when they will announce the winners. Clark says that since this is their first fundraiser, they don’t really have set expectations for how they’d like it to go, but that she believes $500 is an attainable goal. Tickets are available for $5, or three for $10. Attire available to be won will be provided by Dub P Apparel, and will be made to size for the winner.
