The 2024 “Out of this World” Homecoming Week for Greene County is underway with dress up days.
Senior Student Council member Kamden Kinne says today is “Sleeping in the Stars” as Pajama Day, Tuesday is “Out of This World America” with USA clothes, Wednesday is “Starry Night” where people can dress like a star or a celebrity, Thursday is “Space Vacation” as travel day, and Friday is Ram Spirit Day. Kinne invites the public to do the dress up days.
“As for the public participating in this, I mean, if you want to wear on the matching days, the like pajamas for Monday and stuff like that, you could try that. And I believe there’s something to do with social media and correlates with that. So you would post that on social media too, and you could win a prize.”
He adds to use the #RamFanatic when posting pictures on social media and winners will be announced at halftime of the football game.
Other activities taking place throughout the week include the Homecoming Court visiting the elementary and middle schools. Senior Student Council member Sadie Shannon describes why she likes being able to do this, and she is part of the court.
“I think it’s a really fun tradition for the Homecoming Court to go visit the elementary and middle school and just see the younger kids. I remember when I was that age having the seniors come and I always thought it was really cool, so I’m glad that we do that here.”
There is also a public viewing of the Lip Sync Battle on Wednesday at 7pm in the high school auditorium and on Friday is the Homecoming Parade at 2pm and the coronation ceremony at 3pm on the Greene County Courthouse grounds. Anyone can still sign up for a parade entry by contacting Kinne at kinnekam@greenecountycsd.net. The Homecoming football game against Saydel is at 7pm from Linduska Field. The week rounds out on Saturday with a dance from 8-10pm at the high school gym with a $10 admission fee.
