A Jefferson man was recently arrested for allegedly possessing drugs.
According to court documents, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on May 8th after witnessing a 2011 Ford F-150 not obey the posted stop sign on Highway 4 and Lincoln Way, heading north. While the deputy was talking to the driver, the deputy noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, 73-year-old Carter Fetters, denied the marijuana smell and was not aware of the drug in the vehicle.
Court documents show that Fetters allowed the deputy to search his person and the vehicle. While no drugs were found on Fetters, a list of 13 items that were allegedly drug-related were found inside the vehicle, as some of the items were sent to the Criminalistics Laboratory for testing.
An arrest warrant was issued on September 6th, charging Fetters with two Class D Felonies for a controlled substance violation, his third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance violation, an aggravated misdemeanor for his third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on September 12th and was booked into the Greene County Jail under a $12,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
