The Greene County School Board met Wednesday night in regular session.

During open forum, the Greene County Conservation Naturalist Jared Fernholz introduced himself to the Board and said he is looking to start programs in the school buildings so students could get more connected with the outdoors. 

The Board then approved ten students for their school driving permits, several fundraiser requests as presented, an FFA Chapter out of state travel request for the National FFA Convention, the 2022-23 financial audit, the 2023-24 treasurer’s report, along with the 2023-24 annual certified and transportation reports, and the special education supplement report as presented. They also selected four topics to recommend to the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) to advocate for in the 2025 Iowa Legislative Session, appointed Board President Bonnie Silbaugh as the IASB delegate and agreed to increase all education support personnel a $0.30 per hour wage increase through the one-time funding that was allocated from House File 2612 that was signed into law.

Additionally, the Board tabled a decision on adjusting the district’s strategic priorities, pending further review and a $28,500 proposal from the DLR Group for a 3D scan of all the classrooms at all of the school buildings, pending further review. The Board also approved the first readings of two board policies including the reviewing of revisioning of board policies and the process of adapting new board policies as presented.
