A deadline is quickly approaching for Greene County 4-H’ers to be aware of.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says September 16th is the deadline to submit 4-H record books to her office. She points out that 4-H stresses the importance of lifelong learning and goal setting, which record books are a way to document that.

“We want you to be able to go back and reflect on those goals after you’ve exhibited those projects, as well as look at the financial side of things to see, ‘Did I make money on my project? Did I lose money on my project?’  We really encourage kids to do this because it is just such a good learning experience for them and it’s a well rounded experience.”

Hardaway adds that record books are also considered when deciding on certain awards that highlight the end of the year recognitions. Click here for additional information on how to submit a record book.
