Perry Elementary School is happy with the new additions for the 2024-25 school year.

Elementary Principal Laura Skeel says that six new teachers have been hired for the district. She pinpoints that is a steady number as some years there are less. Skeel outlines that the mentoring program at the elementary school is phenomenal, which is beneficial for the incoming teachers.

“Our new teachers have a really good support system, which is exciting. They know who to turn to, they have a good network of people to ask (questions). Being that our grade levels all have five to six teachers, they have a strong pod of teachers that they can go to for support and for different things, and so I think that really helps them.”

Skeel details that the instructional teachers at the elementary school help coach on the attributes that it takes to be a teacher. She emphasizes with all the programs, new teachers are set up for success. The new additions feature Molly Ellis (Kindergarten), Ella Kane (Kindergarten), Maria Croyle (2nd Grade), Kelli Walters (3rd Grade), Odaly Perla Cortez (3rd Grade), and Amanda Jennings (Half-time Special Education).
