Greene County’s 36-7 non-district football victory over Perry at Dewey Field on Friday night had the distinction of the Rams attempting just two passes with no completions. The Rams retained the Cowbell by rushing for 271 yards, blocking a punt that led to a 19 yard scoring drive, and returning the second half kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown. Research dating back to the 2009 season shows no other Ram team with no pass completions and as few as two passing attempts for an entire game. That’s a span covering 149 contests.

Senior Nicholas Stream ran for 176 yards, four touchdowns, and a two-point conversion in the victory, and he now has 285 yards on the ground during the Rams’ 1-1 start to the season.

Next up for Greene County is a Sept. 13 trip to Atlantic to face a 2-0 Trojans team. Atlantic topped Clarke (Osceola) 62-7 to open the season, then got by Glenwood 35-34 on Friday night. All Greene County varsity football games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
