gift-of-grain

One non-profit organization in Greene County offers a way for the farming community to help support their efforts.

The Greene County Medical Center Foundation accepts donations of grain the producers give as a contribution to continue to deliver the highest quality of services, conveniences and programs to patients. Foundation Director Nancy Houska says farmers can deliver their grain from this year or this past harvest season to any elevator in the Foundation’s name. She notes that there is no tax on the income from the delivery and there still is the opportunity to deduct the input costs to grow the crop.

Houska states that by doing this producers are creating a legacy for healthcare and establishing more tax situations for their operations. She adds that any donation of $1,000 or more can have their names on the Foundation’s recognition wall at the medical center.
