The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football team is off to a good start on the 2024 season after defeating Winterset Friday night.

The Tigers beat the Huskies 31-9 to pick up their second straight win on the young season. After holding Winterset to an opening field goal, ADM responded with a nice 63 yard drive that ended with a athletic touchdown from Junior Quarterback Hudson Shull to Senior Wide Receiver Taylor Kinney for 10 yards to lead 7-3. Shull would add a three-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter to push the lead 14-3. The following possession, the Huskies drove 80 yards down the field as Senior QB Hunter Lyon ran in for a one-yard score as the deficit was cut to 14-9, and would remain that way going into halftime after a failed two-point conversion try.

ADM put Winterset away in the second half, outscoring the Huskies 16-0 with two more touchdowns from Senior Running Back Jonathon Hatchitt and Senior Tight End Grant Jansen to separate themselves to the eventual winning score of 31-9. Tigers Senior Wyatt Schweiger was able to intercept Winterset’s Lyon two times in the second half. For the Tigers, Shull threw for 104 passing yards and rushed for 17 on the ground. Hatchitt led by gaining 56 yards, followed Senior RB Cameron Forgy’s 45 (yards) and Senior Talon Harvey with 34. Senior Corbin Reed had three receptions for 61 yards.

Winterset’s Lyon threw for 104 yards with two interceptions while rushing for 34. Senior Hank Wilmes tallied 96 yards on the ground and it was Junior Wyatt Swanson who had 55 yards off of three receptions. The Tigers improve to 2-0 on the season as the Huskies fall to 1-1. Winterset will travel to Carlisle this coming Friday, and ADM has their first road game in Council Bluffs playing Lewis Central at 7pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF, starting at 6pm.
