The 12 team West Central Valley Coed Classic cross-country meet was held on Thursday in Redfield on the middle school grounds. Greene County took part and the Rams finished second on the boys’ side and only had four girls run, which was one short of qualifying for a team score.
Coach Jeff Lamoureux told Raccoon Valley Radio he was very pleased with the results. “We had three medalists (top 15), two boys, Noah Hinote third and Brady Carstensen eighth, and one girl, Rylee Mowrer 14th.” Mowrer was 15th overall, but 14th when it came to the team score because (35 (Truro) had six runners in the top14 and only five are counted in the team score.
Hinote covered the five kilometers (3.1 miles) in 17:56.00. with Carstensen at 18:12.80. Next for the Rams was Carter Hinote, 17th, in 19:29.40, followed by Nick Black, 20th in 19:40.20, and 30th place finisher Kole Johnson-Peterson in 21:11.40. Noah Hinote is a senior with Carter Hinote a junior, Carstensen a sophomore, and Black and Johnson-Peterson are freshmen. Eight-five boys finished the race.
Greene County’s girls were led by Mowrer, a freshman who ran 24:09.30. The other three girls from Greene County were sophomore Evelyn Snyder, 36th in 27:43.70, and senior Ava Jablonski, 40th in 28:20.70. Several girls who were not among the leaders did not get officially timed, including Leah McCormick of Greene County.
