The Perry School District is giving new resources to students and staff members following the heartbreaking event that happened in the southern portion of the United States.

A recent shooting happened at a high school in Winder, Georgia, which came exactly nine months after a shooting at Perry High School, killing three people. The Perry School District recognizes that the unfortunate situation hits close to home for many students and staff members.

The district is offering a few services to help individuals cope with their feelings. 24-Hour Help Hotlines including the Crisis and Support (call 988), a Crisis Intervention and Advocacy Center 24-Hour Helpline (1-800-550-0004) or Your Life Iowa (855-581-8111) are all accessible for people to utilize.

Also, a Student Assistance Program (SAP) will allow students or faculty to call for guidance and support to address a plethora of concerns, while having an opportunity to receive up to six free counseling sessions. The number for SAP is (800)-327-4692. The Perry School District has brought in therapy dogs for comfort and extra School Resource Officers on-site for additional provision.
