A local project in the City of Perry is officially complete after over a decade.

The Perry Municipal Airport is expanding after the completion of Runway 14/32. The City of Perry celebrated with a ribbon cutting on Thursday. According to the city, 13 years of planning went into the project. Perry Mayor Dirk Cavanaugh thanked the crowd out on the runway for coming out and expressed that the city is happy to bring this extension to the airport to allow more access to pilots.

Cavanaugh explained that the work was done in two phases with one relating to a new airfield lighting system, and the other being a 1,500 foot extension of the runway. The City of Perry announces that Manatts Construction, Bolton and Menk, and Wenthold Excavating all contributed to the project.
