The 2024 Speak Out For Agriculture trip that the youth took with the Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has come and gone.

Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that the group was able to tour Hawkeye Breeders in Adel, then they traveled to Ames and visited different facilities at Iowa State University. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that as part of the two day trip, they were able to stay on campus.

“The kids did stay in the dorms this year, so we gave them a dorm room experience. Some were shocked, some enjoyed it, some did not. So it was kind of neat to see though, because some of them will be going here in a few years to a university and be living in the dormhouse.”

Savage mentions that the group also toured a John Deere facility and the Iowa Corn Growers Association. She adds that they are already preparing to hold a meeting to start planning next year’s trip, which will be September 15th at the Cass County ISU Extension, as the two go on the trips together.
