Everyone is invited to support a fundraiser in Scranton for one of the town’s assets.
Jane Finch is with the Scranton Community Center Committee and says they are hosting an event Saturday evening to help pay for repairs to the gym roof. The fundraiser will be at the community center and the doors will open at 5:30pm, followed by a meal that is served from 6-7pm. Finch shares that the meal is smoked pork loin, smoked leg of lamb and ribeye steak sandwiches from the three Greene County Producers, including the Greene County Pork Producers, Greene County Lamb Producers, and the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association. The sides will be prepared by Lidderdale Country Store. The meal is $25 for those 13 and older and $15 for kids 12 and under.
Finch points out there will be a variety of games after the meal. A 50/50 cash raffle is $1 per ticket or six for $5 and a kids raffle for two tractors that are $100 valued. The tickets for that are $10 each or three for $25. Finch notes there will also be a House Split Bingo where winners will split each pot 50/50 with the house and cards are $1 each. She states that the Spinning Wheel game is $5 per spin with three colors and where the wheel stops on people have a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 to $20. Finch adds a heads and tails game is $20 per entry for a chance to win a $500 gift card and a pick a ladle game is also $20 per entry for a chance to win a $300 gift card.
Finch says the community center has been a wonderful location for the community so that different groups and organizations can hold various events and fundraisers, along with training rooms for businesses, a game room that can be rented for birthday parties, and there are several basketball tournaments held each year with pickleball activity in the gym as well. Finch notes the price of the roof repair is at least $80,000.
