Besides all the fun events that the many local libraries have for the month of September in Guthrie County, there’s one that libraries across the nation are participating in.

Librarian for the Stuart Public Library Rachel Majerus tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this month they are participating in an event to remind patrons about signing up for their library cards.

“September is National Library Card Sign Up Month, and so we’re actually offering a contest this month for anybody who signs up for a new card or chooses to renew their account in September. We’re going to put their name in a drawing and they can possibly win a large pizza.”

Majerus mentions that the month is to help patrons remember to have their library cards. She adds that to either sign up for one or renew one at the Stuart Public Library, individuals will need a piece of mail with their address on it to prove they live in town, and children 14 years old and younger will need a guardian with them. This is a free service that library patrons can take advantage of.
