Even though the Labor Day holiday is over, law enforcement agencies still continue to remind motorists of safety tips to use throughout the year.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Shelby McCreedy says that while there is an increased focus on safety on the road during different holidays, she shares tips with individuals about consuming alcohol before driving

“I always tell people, what is the number one thing you have to do is to create the plan, but more importantly than that is executing the plan. You know, we talk to people all the time about making sure you establish a safe ride home or make sure you establish some sort of a process to where you can ensure you’re not going to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after drinking.”

McCreedy adds that she encourages people to always follow whatever plan they put in place for when they go out to celebrate or hang out with friends.
