The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday morning.
During open forum, the Board first heard from county residents with concerns on the carbon dioxide pipeline that Summit Carbon Solutions is proposing to build in Guthrie County should requirements be met. Residents also thanked the Board for the resolution they would be discussing during the meeting in objection to using eminent domain, and mentioned that they appreciated their work in what was turning out to be a thankless endeavor.
The Board then approved the amended resolution objecting to the use of eminent domain by the Iowa Utilities Commission, with the amended part being added to it referring to the 5th Amendment regarding public domain. They also discussed some of the next steps regarding the countywide emergency medical services system ballot measure for the upcoming November general election. The Board decided to work on setting up a series of meetings and town halls with different towns and organizations to disseminate the information of what they are wanting to do. Then they denied a request to creating a 175th anniversary book for the county.
