The Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday.
During open forum, county resident Chris Henning shared information regarding the proposed underground pipeline from Summit Carbon Solutions, including over 26 miles through Greene County. She included a map citing where she believes the impacted landowners in the county are located, using an individual with GIS skills, based on the area that Summit has proposed.
County Engineer Wade Weiss then reported that the bridge on South Grimmell Road was nearing demolition. He added the county road project, in partnership with Dallas County, continues with the road going through Dawson with Dallas County. He was unsure of when Fort Dodge Asphalt would be in to apply the asphalt overlay.
Next, the Board approved a retirement resolution for Lisa Turner for her 26 years of service to the county. Then the Board approved a resolution objecting to the Summit petition for its underground hazardous liquid carbon dioxide pipeline. County Attorney Thomas Laehn highlighted the three areas that the objection resolution included: against the use of eminent domain, the health and safety of residents, and the amount of water that could deplete the county’s aquifers.
The Board also approved hiring Dallas Chargo as a part-time dispatcher for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, effective September 2nd with a rate of $20 per hour. They also approved transitioning Logan Wolf from full-time to part-time as a paramedic for the Greene County Ambulance Department with a rate of $21 per hour and effective August 29th. It was mentioned that Wolf took a job in Carroll County as a paramedic for more pay. Finally, the Board approved hiring Seth Thurman as a part-time ambulance driver effective August 29th with an $11 per hour rate while driving and $4 per hour when on call.
