Children who are in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to a special program at the Jefferson Public Library.

Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says the third annual Stuffy Sleepover is tomorrow and kids are to bring a stuffed animal with them to the library to stay the night. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the event starts at 5pm and she will read the book, “The Imposter” by Laura Bower which is the story of a little girl who questions how mysteriously her stuffed animal is cleaned after it is returned.

Mount notes that after the story, participants will get to enjoy a snack, make sleeping bags for their stuffed animals and color name tags to keep track of them as updates are posted on the library’s Facebook page. Children can then pick up their stuffy on Friday after school, or their parents can pick it up before school dismisses. She points out that 11 kids participated last year.

Mount enjoys this event because it was her first activity she did when she became the Youth Services Librarian, She continues to offer the Stuffy Sleepover because it is easy and fun to do for everyone involved. Mount also likes to meet new kids and families, along with meeting new stuffed animals and hearing from the children of who their stuffies are about.

Tomorrow’s program is free and no pre-registration is necessary.
