The AC/GC Chargers volleyball team was in action last night, and won their home opener against the Pleasantville Trojans.
Head Coach Barb South says that the team took the match after playing all five sets. She credits the win to the team’s grit and determination, mentioning that all the sets were a back and forth, tooth and nail fight, with the Chargers winning the third set of the match 31-29 after coming back from being down seven. AC/GC lost the first set 27-25, won the second set 26-24, the dropped the fourth set 26-24, and won the final set 15-13.
South adds that the players spent almost as much time on the ground going for digs as they did being upright, and sophomore Stella Largent was able to record several kills from all over the court. The Chargers are now 1-1 on the season, and will return to action Thursday night when they host a tournament where Nodaway Valley, Exira-EHK and West Central Valley will also compete.
