The Dallas County Conservation Board is gearing up for an annual event on Saturday.

The board is inviting people to the 2024 Prairie Awoke Celebration at Kuehn Conservation Area all day Saturday. Dallas County Conservation Director Curt Cable discusses that the event revolves around Native American heritage. He explains that many people attend each year.

“It’s a pretty big celebration that we have, where 100 people show up for that. It’s just a really cool event that they (DCCB) have been doing for a long time.”

According to the DCCB, there will be Native games, demonstrations, dancing, plus the release of monarchs and a rehabilitated raptor. The Prairie Awoke Celebration is happening from 10am-7pm and will be free for the public to attend. For more information, contact the Dallas County Conservation Board at (515)-465-3577 or click here.
