The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union met earlier in August for their annual review and preview meeting.
During the meeting, the two organizations collaborated to try and decongest the busy spring athletic season. At this time, the two organizations determined that there are eight sports that compete during spring, with six in the fall, seven in winter and two over the summer. According to the IHSAA and IGHSAU, it was decided that starting in the 2025-26 school year, boys golf for Classes 1A, 2A, and 3A, along with girls tennis will be moved from the spring season to the fall season. This would have all four classes of boys golf competing at the same time, and even out the number of sports going on at one time.
