Greene County sent it’s cross-country teams to the Municipal Golf Course in Gowrie on Thursday night for an event hosted by Southeast Valley. Coach Jeff Lamoureux watched his boys’ squad finish eighth among 13 teams while the girls did not have enough girls finish the race to qualify for a team score.

Senior Noah Hinote led the way for the Rams with an eleventh place finish overall, and tenth among teams qualifying for a team score. He covered the five kilometers (3.1) miles in 18:49.91. Next for the Rams was junior Carter Hinote at 20:37.08. good for 29th place. Freshman Nick Black was 36th in 21:11.36, followed by Kole Johnson-Peterson,  a freshman who was 55th in 22:13.68. Right behind him was Eli Carstensen, a sophomore who was 56th in 22:15.07. The Rams had 176 points, well behind the 55 points of team champion ACGC.

The best finish for a Greene County girl was freshman Rylee Mowrer’s 24th place effort. Her 10K time was 24:23.75. Next for the Rams was Evelyn Snyder in 28:24.90, and she finished 58th. Junior Leah McCormick finished 82nd in 38:13.01.

Coach Lamoureux told Raccoon Valle Radio conditions were not ideal, but both races were completed before heavy rain hit the golf course. Runners in the top 25 were medal winners.

It’s season opening Greene County High School football tonight on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coach Caden Duncan’s Rams host the Carroll High Tigers at 7 o’clock. Coverage starts at 6 p.m. with Football Friday Night.
