With just a short amount of time left in the summer, there are some fun events that happen at Springbrook State Park.

Iowa Department of Natural Resources Interpretive Naturalist and Educator Anne Riordan says that one of the well accepted programs she holds is the kayaking program, where individuals are able to kayak on the lake at the park. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about another program for youth based on some books.

“We have a ‘Who Pooped in the Park’ program, kind of based on some of the books of that nature, if you’ve heard of any of those. It’s basically using scat for animal identification and all the different things that we can learn from that, and so just kind of a fun take on that.”

Riordan shares that another program that she has done is to teach individuals about plants, especially which ones can be dangerous and which ones aren’t.
