The community of Perry was recently awarded a grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA).

A press release states that the IEDA gave several grants to help communities strengthen their arts, culture, and creative industries. Perry was amongst four recipients of the grants. According to the IEDA, the Iowa Bandmasters Association, out of Dakota City, is utilizing a $10,000 award to create and gift an original concert band work to Perry Schools and the community, to recognize residents in the continued recovery process following the January 4th tragedy.

Other recipients include Iowa Filmmaker Beth Howard, the Orange City Arts Council, and the Grinnell Area Arts Council. Between the recent grants, the total amount of money distributed was $1,678,398.
