Recently 137 schools were awarded Local Food for Schools grants by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.

These schools will receive $2,000 to help with purchasing food from local sources, pairing school lunch programs with the local food hub and area farmers. In Guthrie County, the Panorama and West Central Valley Community School Districts were both awarded a grant. Through collaborative efforts and partnerships, the Local Food for Schools program facilitates direct relationships between schools and their local farmers and food hubs. The program was launched in 2022.
