A third suspect in a string of vehicle burglaries in Scranton has been sentenced.
According to court documents, 23-year-old Christian Long of Missouri City, Texas pled guilty to an amended charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and another aggravated misdemeanor for third degree burglary. He was ordered to serve two years in prison for each charge, to be served consecutively. He will also serve those four years concurrently with another prison sentence from a conviction in Illinois.
The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on September 5, 2023. Long, Najee Harrell and Jonathan Jones stole a vehicle from Scranton, which was later found in Carroll, as well as breaking into another vehicle in Scranton and stealing $120 in cash. The three people fled in a rental vehicle from Texas and were later found in Missouri where they were allegedly involved in another burglary.
Najee and Jones were each sentenced to three years of probation in their separate cases. Long was additionally ordered to pay victim restitution. As per the plea agreement, Long had a Class B Felony for ongoing criminal conduct dismissed, and the Class D Felony for second degree theft was amended to the aggravated misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent.
