A local school within Dallas County is in the midst of several renovations.
St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Perry is shaping up to be another incredible year. Principal Kandice Patillo tells Raccoon Valley Radio that construction has been the theme throughout the summer ramping up to the new school year. She highlights some of the improvements the school is currently making.
“Brand new laminate LFP Flooring installed in our kindergarten. We ripped out that really old wall to wall carpet. Alice’s House here in town helped us get those floors matched and installed. And then we also had new floors put into the kitchen, so the old tile that was in there, it was gutted out this summer, and new epoxy coated floors were installed.”
Patillo expresses that the work didn’t stop there, as new technological advancements are happening as well.
“We’re able to take out the old smart panels and projectors and replace them with new 65 inch flat screens TVs that are interactive touch screen panels, and our teachers are absolutely loving them. They’re basically like giant tablets that are on their walls and the kids have even said that they’re nice. So, we’ll have one in the gym that we’ll be able to use with PE, and then as people rent or need a meeting space, we’re hoping that that can be a feature that we can add.”
Patillo is also grateful for the 70 volunteers who were kind enough to paint the 10+ classrooms a new off-white color from the older gray.
