Perry football traveled to Carroll last Friday for a scrimmage. The Bluejays had some positives and negatives during the evening. In the rehearsal, Coach Vannornam saw some things the team needs to improve upon. “Some things we need to work on is just getting faster off the ball, right. O-line and D-line happen quicker instead of standing straight up. We got to get low. Low man wins, right so that’s to be the big focus to me.” The tape wasn’t all bad for the Bluejays. “Our JV squad did very very well. I’m super impressed with our young guys right now and I think it’s a test to them buying into the culture.” The offense got off to a slow start, but they were able to get into a groove after the first series. “Geren’s confidence I think is better and his arm strength is better than last year so it helps on the passing game so that it kind of clicked later on.”
Perry opens the season Thursday night at Des Moines Hoover. KDLS and the Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will have the Perry Hy-Vee Pregame show at 6:45P.
