The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center School Boards met in regular joint session Wednesday night.

Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that the meeting went rather well, especially as the Guthrie Center School District was hosting their open house night for the elementary and high school buildings. He adds that they started off with administrative reports, before moving to a discussion topic regarding the high school.

“AC/GC High School Principal Brian Sauser really went over our grade reporting system, which was standards based grading. And after some discussions, (we) kind of looked to change what that looks like. So we had a discussion with the Board about moving to more of a standards reference system, where we’ll be using an evidence tracker to make sure that we are meeting all of those standards that are set by the state of Iowa, but also create clarity and consistency within that grading system.”

Rasmussen mentions that the Boards then approved the second semester whole grade sharing invoice and the second reading of the Iowa Association of School Boards. The AC Board also approved the final pay application for the junior high bleacher project, and the GC Board approved the second and third pay applications for the high school HVAC project, and updating the Ron Baier and Jarmin Field Memorial.
