Dave Wright is the Activities Director for the Greene County schools. He talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about a proposal that could bring some changes to high school bowling. John Woodford is the coach of both the girls and boys programs for the Rams, and the 2024-25 season will be just the second for Greene County.

Coach Wright told Raccoon Valley Radio that what is being proposed for the 2025-26 school year is keeping bowling a Winter sport, but having 16 consecutive weeks, eight for one gender, followed by eight for the other. If that is adopted, it likely would mean the end to the Coed State Bowling Championships. Wright speculated that not having both at the exact same time may make it easier to find coaches around the state, or it could help ease the load on a coach if they already coach both boys and girls. It’s only a proposal at this point and if approved, would not go into effect until the 2025-26 school year.
