The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.

The Board held a human resources workshop where HR Director Beth Deardorff reviewed a compensation package looking at market salaries. Deardorff said that the plan is done about every four to five years. She described that since 2020, Dallas County is rapidly growing in population and is on the cusp of counties such as Polk, Johnson, and Woodbury.

The Board decided to take action on the item with Supervisor Mark Hanson and Chair Brad Golightly approving, but Supervisor Kim Chapman disagreed, emphasizing that Dallas County isn’t anywhere near those bigger counties in terms of infrastructure.

The only other item on the agenda that was approved pertained to appointing Lerryne Haynes on the Dexter Library Board. Turner Construction detailed that they will give a final update on the referendum bond for the new criminal court building in Adel at the next meeting this coming Tuesday. Before adjourning, the board also hosted a planning and development workshop, and a drainage district trustees meeting for a change request relating to the Raccoon River Valley Trail for a rock quantity of 600 tons for a total amount of $88,500.
