Prior to the new school year starting on Friday, Perry Schools is bringing in a healthy amount of new teachers.
The 2024-2025 school year for Perry will continue to be a recovery year following the January 4th tragedy. Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks explains that there hasn’t been a huge fluctuation of students with the loss of the Tyson Foods Pork Plant, and is happy to announce that 19 new teachers are on staff between the elementary, middle, and high school.
“We got a good crew of new teachers coming in, and getting themselves prepared and getting ready for the year, and then we want to be able to have a great year, we are going to have a great year, and we’re going to have things prepared.”
Wicks is reassuring students, staff members, and parents that the district is supplying mental health therapists, therapy dogs, and extra School Resource Officers (SROs). Perry Schools will feature seven new elementary teachers, three new middle school teachers, seven new high school teachers, and two additional teachers.
