A popular country band from the 1990s is coming to Grand Junction as part of a free event at the end of the month.

Channel Seed Field Service Representative and Grand Junction resident Savannah Lyons tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Channel Seed is sponsoring a customer appreciation event on August 28th in Grand Junction with country band icon Blackhawk to perform. She says Channel Seed wanted to have a customer appreciation event in conjunction with the Farm Progress Show in Boone County.

Lyons points out the planning for this started four months ago and when it was offered to local resident and 17-year Channel Seed dealer Dustin Fouch of Fouch Agriservice, he immediately accepted to be the host. She describes getting Blackhawk lined up as a stab in the dark and the band agreed because it was on their route between two performances for their tour.

Lyons says the event starts at 4:30pm with two speakers, including Continuum Ag Founder and CEO Mitchell Hora and Channel Grain Marketing Expert Matt Bennett. Then starting at 6:30pm will be an opening musical act with Levi Riggs from Indiana, which Lyons points out that he has opened for the band Saliva and Sawyer Brown, followed by the main act of Blackhawk at 8pm.

Lyons notes that while there will be a designated area near the Fouch facility, at 402 Main Street, for the upwards of over 1,500 Channel Seed customers invitees who have wristbands and are from at least 11 different states. She explains that the public can also enjoy the free entertainment outside of the barricaded area. She says Greene County Cattlemen’s Association and the Greene County Pork Producers will be grilling and serving sandwiches and the Grand Junction 50107 Summerfest Committee will be serving alcoholic beverages. Lyons invites any other non-profit that wants to sell food or beverages to contact City Hall for more information.

Lyons thanks the Grand Junction City Council for their help with getting the area of Main Street prepped and ready for the event, as well as Dustin Fouch for his 17 years of being with Channel Seed and being willing to be the host. She adds if anyone from the public is interested in coming to the outdoor concert, to know that they don’t need to get a ticket, but can come to the area around Main Street.
