This year at the Iowa State Fair five farms in Adair County and two in Guthrie County were recognized as Century or Heritage Farms.
In Guthrie County, the farm that is run by John Fininegan Trust was acknowledged as a Heritage Farm, while the farm owned by Earl and Marilyn Newman was recognized as a Century Farm. In Adair County, the 2024 Century Farms are owned by Larry Moss and Kevin Ridler, while the three Heritage Farms belong to Arnold Lewis, Craig and Kay Tracy, and the Smith Family Farm.
The Century and Heritage Farm program is one with a long history in the state of Iowa, with over 21,000 Century Farms recognized since 1976, and 2,000 Heritage Farms acknowledged since 2006.
