Over the last two Guthrie County Board of Supervisors meetings, the topic of a possible all terrain vehicle (ATV) park and campground in Bear Grove Township has been discussed.

The first time the topic was brought up, at the July 30th meeting, the Board showed interest in the idea, as there aren’t any recreational areas on the western side of the county, and no ATV park in the entire county. Region XII Council of Governments Zoning Administrator for Guthrie County Chris Whitaker was consulted on how to move forward on whether the area being considered for the park and campground should be rezoned. Whitaker, suggested a conditional use permit, or a principal use permit. The Board decided to move forward with a conditional use permit for each, and is waiting for more information on what it would cost to get the area developed and facilities installed.
