At least seven members of the Greene County High School graduating class of 2024 are participating in college sports, according the Activities Director Dave Wright. For the first time, two members of the same graduating class will be playing esports in college as Layne Carstens is going to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake and Rylan Larson is attending Marshalltown Community College.

Greene County’s bowling program is just one season old, but Carter Fecher will be bowling for Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge. Gavin Scheuermann is wrestling at Grand View University in Des Moines, while Kaylee Stalder is on Grand View’s volleyball team. Kicker Nathan Behne is on the Upper Iowa University (Fayette) football team, and a different kind of kicker, soccer player Gessser Gutierres, is joining the soccer team in Waverly at Wartburg College.

This is among the highest number of college participants from the same graduating class at Greene County High.
