A local organization in Perry was recently recognized with a ribbon cutting.

The Perry Chamber of Commerce visited the Perry Child Development Center on Tuesday to honor the opening of the new one-year-old space. Director Kim Bonjour-Eiteman emphasizes that the discussion to expand for another age group was years in the making.

“Try to figure out with state licensing, we’re an AC accredited and we do IQ4K (Iowa Quality For Kids), so there’s a lot of different guidelines and rules of what each age group children need and have to be provided, so we kind of jump through all of those hurdles and got all that completed. We’re ready to grow, so now we’re going to advertise for the classroom and get it going.”

Bonjour-Eiteman admits that she was a little overwhelmed with the amount of people that showed up to the ribbon cutting ceremony, but is ultimately grateful for the support from the community. The Perry Child Development Center also hosted an open house later in the evening to invite the public.
