The Guthrie County Secondary Roads Department has been busy this summer.

County Engineer Josh Sebern says that they’ve had several projects that have been done, with larger ones contracted out and some smaller ones done by the department. He mentions that they are going after some federal grant money, as recently that has been awarded to many bridge projects.

Sebern says that they will soon start a bridge project north of Diamondhead Lake, and that at times the road will be closed for those repairs. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what residents should know about the alternate route.

“On the detour for that bridge on the north side of Diamondhead, the bridge over the South Raccoon, the detour is going to be gravel. Just use caution on that. Drive the conditions and be aware for dust and just be cautious.”

Sebern mentions that another project they are looking to get started is finishing the repair work to ruts in White Pole Road in Stuart.
