The AC/GC Chargers are gearing up for the fall sports season of the 2024-25 school year, and one staff member is excited to see what the kids do.

Activities Director Taylor Morris says that in the 2023-24 year, sports were a very successful area for the school. He mentions that for the previous fall sports season, both the football and volleyball teams made it to the substate championship, just one game from the state tournament, while the boys cross country team took second in their class and the girls team took fifth in theirs.

Morris tells Raccoon Valley Radio what he believes helps the chargers stay competitive.

“Obviously kids buying in. Community involvement and support they give is obviously huge, but first, it’s all about the kids. They come in, they’re ready to get ready and go. A lot of them are multi-sport athletes, so they just build off it and go from one sport to another. And they’re competitive. They hate to lose, and that’s what helps us be competitive and stay competitive.”

Practice has officially started for all the 2024-25 sports teams. Morris adds that while a few key pieces of last year’s teams have graduated, there are several returning players for all three sports that will help the teams stay competitive once again this year.
