Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) recently announced that applications for some funding have opened up.

The Cover Crop Cost-Share Program is available to individuals to receive payments of $10 or $15 per acre on unlimited acres. This is the tenth year that the program has been implemented, and is for farmers in Iowa and parts of Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota, making them eligible to apply whether they have a history of cover crop use or are starting out for the first time.

According to PFI Field Crops Viability Coordinator Morgan Jennings, there was a spike in interest in the 2023 applicant class, and it nearly doubled from the 2022 number of applicants. Those that need help applying or that have questions should contact Jennings by one of the means available below. There is also a link available to visit as well.
