The Jefferson Garden Club recently announced its Yard of the Month for August.
Deb and Shane Monthei were selected and they live at 507 West Russell Street. According to the organization, their front flower bed features purple liatris, yellow coreopsis and rudbeckia , pink hibiscus, foxglove, daylilies, Asiatic lilies and yucca plants. The front lawn is bordered by Spring blooming peonies.
The Jefferson Garden Club points out the Tiger Eyes Sumac trees on the west side of the property turn a vibrant scarlet in the fall. The east side has an ornamental pond with garden stones and hostas surrounding it. There are several frog and hummingbird figures in the front lawn, which the garden club says are Deb’s favorite lawn ornaments. The Garden Club notes that Deb found her love of flower gardens from a horticulture class in high school.
The mission of the Jefferson Garden Club is to highlight and promote beauty in the community.
