A 4-H’er from Dallas County placed well at the All-Iowa Showdown, advancing to the state fair.
Levi Hick originally participated in the Heartland Throwdown at the Story County Fairgrounds on July 27th, where he emerged as the Grand Champion for Market Hog. Hick qualified for the All-Iowa Showdown, which took place this past Sunday in Oskaloosa. Hick was named the Reserve Champion Market Hog at the competition, now advancing him to the Iowa State Fair. Levi’s father Sean indicates that all the hard work is paying off.
“It’s a great achievement. We’ve been trying for eight years to get to that point, and it’s been a fun ride to get there.”
Cohen Crooks, also out of Dallas County, was awarded the Reserve Champion for Breeding Gilt. However, since Crooks is in his first year of 4-H, he is not eligible to show at the state fair. Levi Hick will be showing his Market Hog at the Iowa State Fair on Tuesday.
