With the start of the 2024-25 Greene County High School sports year just around the corner, coaches, athletes, and fans, all want victories. Enduring more than half a dozen serious leg injuries requiring surgery from June 2023 through early this Summer, having healthy athletes may be priority number one. Injuries have always been a part of sports, but having so many knee/leg injuries of a serious nature in a 12 month period was both highly unusual as well as unwanted.

Athletes were injured playing a variety of sports, along with one or more off the field injuries. Some of those who were not seniors last year will likely return to the playing fields at some point this school year, while others will not. In some cases, it’s not known if high school careers will continue at all.

Some sports are holding camps this week, followed by official practices for all Fall sports beginning on Monday, Aug. 12.
